Among the handful of things announced by Apple during its special event on Tuesday, we got to hear more about Apple Arcade. Apple had first announced its plans for the service back in March. Here is everything you need to know about Apple upcoming service:
First Question, What exactly is Apple Arcade?
Apple Arcade is Apple’s subscription based gaming service. The tech giant has collaborated with several reputed developers to bring premium gaming exclusively to Apple devices. Apple has reportedly invested a whopping $500 million to bring all these games to its devices. Apple Arcade will not only be featuring these exclusive titles. It will also have several non-exclusive titles. Also, while the developers of the exclusive titles may not release their games on competing platforms such as Android, their contract with Apple allows them to release the games on PC or other gaming consoles a couple of months later.
Gaming is a huge industry and it is every growing. Apple clearly wants to get in on the game. It is clear that the sole purpose of Apple Arcade is to get gamers to switch to Apple devices.

Second Question, What Apple devices will support Apple Arcade?
Apple has announced that Apple Arcade will be supported by every Apple device. That means it could be any device running macOS Catalina, iOS, iPadOS (another cool thing Apple introduced on Tuesday) or tvOS 13. So you could run Apple arcade on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV or Mac.
On every device except the Apple TV, the games work on a download-once and work offline mode. This means that you will not be requiring an active internet connection to play the games. That’s definitely going to save a lot of your data!
Third Question, What games are available?
Apple has collaborated with several high profile game developers to bring premium games to its service. The company has announced that the catalog will include more than 100 games in the coming weeks. Some of the most anticipated Apple Arcade exclusive games include Sayonara Wild Hearts, ChuChu Rocket! Universe, Pac-Man Party Royale, Exit the Gungeon, Projection: First Light, Super Impossible Road and Rayman Mini.
Fourth Question, Can you use your controllers?
You won’t technically need a controller. Apple says that you can play all Apple Arcade games with your out-of-the-box Apple device hardware. But if you want to, you can use your PlayStation 4 controller or your Xbox One controller too!
Final Question, How much will it cost?
Apple Arcade is a subscription based service. Apple has set the price at $4.99 a month with Family Sharing. This means that you can share your subscription with up to six members. Apple is also offering a free one-month trial. This is a great way for Apple to woo hesitant users from trying its service out. Another great thing that Apple has announced is that the games featured on Apple Arcade will have no in-app purchases or ads. How great is that?
Apple Arcade is launching simultaneously in more than 150 countries. It will first be available in all iOS devices on September 19. It will be available for iPadOS and tvOS a bit later on September 30. Finally, it will be available for the Mac in October.
