Garmin Fenix 5S Plus – Best Overall Watch For Women
What you get from the Garmin Fenix 5S Plus is state-of-the-art quality and reliability. The truth is, this isn’t the sleekest or cheapest smartwatch on our list, but we consider it the best watch in the world in the physical industry right now.
What’s so special about the Garmin Fenix 5S Plus?
This device comes with more mind-blowing features than any watch you’ll find in the market today. We know women who love quality and toughness and that’s why they get to see the Fenix 5S Plus first. Wearing the watch alone gives you the look of a workout junkie, even before you hit the gym or start a fitness routine.
The Fenix 5S Plus doesn’t feature a touchscreen. This isn’t a problem since touchscreen watches can get tricky to use, especially in wet conditions. This device is controlled with four buttons on the side. The design is cool, but it looks rugged, that could turn some women off.
Fenix 5S Plus has a 16GB memory and can store up to 500GB of music or podcasts. This comes in handy when you’re taking a run or hiking. It comes with a Bluetooth 4.0 and internet connectivity. You can easily connect it to all your Android or IOS smartphones, including your computer.
This fitness tracker has a heart rate monitor which uses an optical sensor. It has a compass, a thermometer, an accelerometer and a gyroscope. It can even tell you how many flights of steps you climbed with its barometer.
There is more to the Fenix 5S plus than meets the eye. Check it out on Amazon.
- Water resistant
- Astounding features
- Can track multiple sports and workout routines
- Long lasting battery, up to six days on a single charge
- Very expensive
- Bulky Design
The Fenix 5S Plus gives a woman everything she wants in a fitness watch and goes one better. You actually need to get this watch to fully grasp how much technology is packed inside.
But the Fenix 5S Plus is not for the average individual. It’s not sleek and easy to use. And it’s not affordable. Still, if you want a tough tracker that stands out from the competition, this is your best bet in the market.
Polar A370 – Best easy-to-use for women
Women who love to own simple but powerful pieces of technology will love the Polar A370. This smartwatch gives you almost everything you need to monitor your fitness but manages to look sleek and adorable at the same time.
It’s an activity tracker for women that can track multiple routines, including the basics like running, swimming, and cycling. The A370 can monitor your heart rate with an optical heart sensor and count reps if you do strength training; it can also track your sleep using Polar’s sleep plus technology. The device also comes equipped with a GPS tracker.
The device features a heart rate sampling technology which tells you when you had your lowest or highest heart rate during the day. You can see all the information it gathers from your day-to-day routine on the device’ LCD screen.
Based on what we saw, the metrics from the Polar A370 are pretty much accurate except when it’s submerged in water.
- Tracks sleep, workout, sports etc
- Long lasting battery, up to six days on a single charge
- Sleek build
- The exposed USB port means your device might drown if you submerge it in water
- Heart rate readings underwater are inaccurate
The Polar A370 truly proves to be an upgrade on the A360. It comes stacked with hi-tech features and an easy-on-eye design.
The device does its job to track your physical health quite well. We found it very easy to use. However, the A370 comes with a Micro USB port which has a removable cap. If you lose the cap the port becomes exposed and your device can drown underwater.
But that isn’t much of a deal-breaker. The A370 is still a good bang for your buck if you consider how well it performs.
Garmin Vivofit 3 – Best activity tracker for women
The Garmin Vivofit 3 has a lot of powerful siblings, but it can easily pass as the best activity tracker for women because of how well it does the job.
First things first, the Vivofit 3 does all the basic activity tracking efficiently. You’ll get an accurate reading for things like distance traveled, number of steps walked, and calories burned.
The Vivofit 3 will hug your wrist comfortably as you go about your daily workout routine. Even when you aren’t working out the watch will smartly track your activity and give readings on your fitness levels.
This smartwatch can sync with any Android or iOS smartphone. It can also connect and share data with other apps beside Garmin’s. Every data it collects can be viewed from Garmin Connect app.
- Minimal aesthetics
- Astonishing one-year battery life
- Easy to use
- Falls behind in terms of features
- Small display which doesn’t show much information
The Vivofit 3 comes in a small size to fit women; it’s, however, not the most attractive of smart fitness watches. But what it offers is pin-point accuracy when measuring sleep patterns, heart rate, calories burned.
What you’ll like most about it is how quickly it detects and records when you change workouts. This is due to Garmin’s Move IQ. For a fitness tracker of this quality that costs less than $100, it seems a good choice. But don’t expect the world from it.
Semaco Fitness Tracker – Best Affordable for women
Semaco is by far the best affordable fitness watch for women we reviewed. The low price doesn’t mean Semaco has sacrificed functionality. Because it’s a super affordable smartwatch, every feature it has comes as a big plus. Let’s look at those features.
The watch comes with a 0.85-inch OLED screen which allows you to check time, date and other notifications. This OLED display is vertical so you don’t necessarily have to tilt your wrist to see what’s on the screen. Interestingly, this monitor is touchscreen.
Also, since it is compatible with both Android and iOS, it can sync with your phone so you can read notifications coming from your smartphone without getting distracted by picking up the device. You can even receive calls with this watch if it’s connected to your phone.
They come with an integrated USB which allows charging anywhere. Although the battery can go four days on a single charge. It’s waterproof. It can even warn you by vibrating if your phone gets 15-16 feet away. That can help against misplacing your phone or theft.

- Can perfectly monitor your sleep
- Gives insight on calories burned
- Highly affordable
- Cool design
- Good battery
- Easy to use
- Can’t track multiple sports like other trackers
- Doesn’t detect a change in exercise routine
Semaco fitness smartwatch is for everyone who wants cool features and affordability. The watch has a cool but minimalist design and is waterproof. It has wireless and is compatible with just about any modern-day smartphone.
Due to the low price, Semaco had to leave out a few features such as auto exercise detection. Also, the watch can’t monitor sports like swimming, cycling and hiking.
If you aren’t looking for a tracker that monitors any of the aforementioned sports, the Semaco fitness watch is the cheapest option you’ll find in the market.
Amazfit Moonbeam – Best watch for women without a screen
The Amazfit Moonbeam will draw people’s attention to your wrist, but they won’t be admiring a timepiece, or a fitness tracker even. They’ll see it as an everyday bracelet.
At the first glance of the Amazfit, we thought it was just another wristband. On closer look, it can be observed that this is truly a high-tech device that takes readings. Amazingly, it doesn’t have a screen.
So how does the Amazfit Moonbeam work? The manufacturers aimed to produce a fitness watch that simply takes readings and sends them to the Amazfit fitness app via an internet connection. That means you have to download the app to use this tracker.
You can see all your tracked activity from the app, including the battery life indicator.
The Amazfit can accurately track distance covered, calories burned, sleep patterns and quality. It can also tell you how many steps you took in a day. The Amazfit doesn’t track every workout routine. It’s waterproof but the manufacturer says it could drown if you take it swimming.
- Elegant eye-catching design
- Comfortable on the wrist
- Long lasting battery, up to 10 days on a single charge
- Doesn’t give its identity away
- IP68 certified waterproof
- No screen to look at, but that’s the idea
- Data loss after recharge
- Doesn’t monitor multiple sports
- Can’t be used for swimming
We like the idea behind the Amazfit; you have a device that helps you to forget about the fuss of regularly checking the screen to see your metrics. Because it doesn’t have one.
However, there are serious concerns about the app, which actually is the barebones of this activity tracker. Sometimes the app doesn’t sync with your tracker quickly enough. Other times it loses some of the data it recorded, especially after you recharge the tracker. The good news is that the battery lasts really long so you don’t need to recharge it too often.
Fitbit Blaze – Best Fitbit for Women
The Fitbit Blaze was a really popular when it hit the market, a couple of years back. It still is one of the most sold fitness trackers on Amazon.
The Blaze gives you everything you want in an activity tracker. It counts your steps, monitors your sleep and can tell you how many flights of stairs you took in a day. It shows you the number of calories you burned and monitors heart rate.
Basically, the Blaze keeps an eagle eye on all your daily activities. Plus it connects with your smartphone to bring you all your calls, texts and other important notifications.
Beyond the popular features, Fitbit Blaze has a set of inbuilt workout routine which you can undergo by watching the animation on your 1.25 LED touchscreen. That screen is protected with a Gorilla Glass 3.
Although the device is rated waterproof, it can only withstand a few splashes and will drown if submerged. This is the major downside of this impressive gadget.
- Features Bluetooth connectivity
- Can connect with IOS, Android and Windows smartphones
- Provides lots of insightful metrics from your daily activities
- Long lasting battery
- Allows you to listen to music
- Will fit any woman’s wrist
- No built-in GPS but can use your smartphone map
- The design is a little bulky
- Doesn’t support third-party apps
- Not completely waterproof
- No notification that warns you when you’ve sat still for too long
The Fitbit Blaze is an impressive device that does the job of activity tracking very well. It scores vital points for its ability to track multiple exercise routines. The battery lasts long enough to last one through a week on a single charge.
But take a second look at the drawbacks we’ve listed. They just keep piling up. And when you consider the cost, this might not be the most attractive Fitbit for women after all.
Misfit Ray- Best bracelet tracker for women
If you slap the Misfit Ray on your wrist, no one would pass it for a fitness tracker; unless of course, you tell them. Some claim the aesthetics are unisex, but this is totally a women’s tracker. The design is superb, nothing was left to chance in that aspect.
For features, it will track your sleep pattern, heart rate, calories you burned, distance covered and steps taken. It will also track multiple routines such as cycling, running, swimming, even yoga.
Since the Misfit Ray doesn’t have a screen, you will not be able to get any notification on the device. But it has a notification light that blinks blue when you have a text or green when you have a call.
- Water resistant
- Long lasting battery, you don’t bother about charging
- Discreet design, it could pass for a wristband
- Accuracy with the timing
- Can’t measure heart rate
- You don’t get many alerts on your tracker
The Misfit Ray is an adorable fitness tracker. We’ll take it over a bracelet that doesn’t do anything. The battery can last up to six months. It connects smoothly to your smartphone. And shows you all your activity metrics on the Misfit Ray app.
However, due to the minimalist form factor, a few features were sacrificed. For one, there’s no inbuilt GPS and there’s no screen to see any alert, not even time and date. You might want to wear a watch for that.
Fitbit Alta HR – Best Tracker for Women
The Fitbit Alta HR is the fitness watch you want if you’re looking for sleekness and a brilliant display.
The Alta HR can monitor your heart rate; it can estimate the number of calories burned and can count the number of steps you take in the night. It can track the time you spend sleeping; with the Fitbit app, it can tell you how to get better sleep if you don’t.
Besides the Fitbit app, this can sync with other apps like Strava, MyFitnessPal and Runkeeper to give you insight on helpful fitness information.
The Alta HR has a small LCD screen; but that’s all it needs to display time, date and notifications such as WhatsApp messages, texts and incoming calls. The Alta HR isn’t big on detecting when you change exercise routine. If you take it swimming it might not survive.
- Monitors your heart rate
- Sleek design
- Fits your wrist
- Can sync with other apps
- Long lasting battery life
- Not waterproof
- No altimeter, meaning it can’t track elevation
The Fitbit Alta HR has all the basic requirements of a fitness smartwatch; it even goes beyond to offer lots of other metrics that help you keep track of your fitness. And the design is lovely.
The drawbacks are not deal breakers. For instance, this isn’t a watch for swimmers, it drowns. And it doesn’t have an altimeter or barometer so it won’t do any tracking for workouts that involve climbing staircases or hiking. Nevertheless, you can still rely on the other features it has. You won’t regret buying this.
Fitbit Ionic – Best activity tracker with GPS
The Fitbit Ionic was Fitbit’s first smart activity tracker and it was designed to fit women. It will fit your wrist perfectly and you’ll find it easy to use.
The body is designed with aluminium, but this cute piece is still absolutely water resistant. The Ionic has a touchscreen but this is a resistive screen so you’re better off navigating your device using the buttons on the side.
The Ionic has a built-in GPS; it can track exercise routines such as strength training, running, cycling and yoga. The device will count your step and show you the number of calories you burned during the day.
This smartwatch features a heart rate sensor; it uses the data it collects from your heart rate to provide other helpful information. Furthermore, this can quickly detect when you change your exercise routine.
It comes with an inbuilt workout coach that teaches you different workout routines and receive your feedback when you complete each. However, the coach is mute, so you can only watch what it teaches, there’s no audio.
- Great battery life
- Water resistant
- Cool design
- Can track multiple fitness routine
- Bright and beautiful display
- Syncs easily with the app and your smartphone
- Resistive touch screen
The Ionic is a worthy inclusion because it goes over and beyond in bringing technology to your workout activity.
It scores major points for being water resistant and coming with a good battery. It also has an inbuilt GPS tracker. However, the touchscreen is a little slow in response, you’ll have to tap it multiple times before you get a response. And the GPS sometimes just fails to connect for no reason.
The price of the Ionic is a little high when you consider other watches with almost the same specs but much cheaper. What might hook someone on the Ionic is the sleek square design it spots.
Garmin Forerunner 25
We decided to throw in a basic fitness watch for women to wrap up our review. It’s none other than the Garmin Forerunner 25. This activity tracker comes across as a sturdy device. It only does the job of tracking walking and running but it does that really well.
The Forerunner 25 syncs with the Garmin Connect Mobile app via Bluetooth and shows you metrics like calories you burned and steps you walked during the day. It even has a USB point from where you can connect your tracker to a PC. The presence of that feature means the watch is not water resistant.
This activity tracker doesn’t have a touchscreen. In fact, it only has a monochrome screen but it gets all the message across well enough. It notifies you to get up for a quick walk when you’ve sat still for too long. The watch doesn’t monitor your sleep.
You can watch the video below to understand this watch better.
- Provides accurate readings compared to other fitness trackers
- Lasting battery
- Uninspired design
- Monochrome interface
- No heart rate monitor
- Doesn’t track multiple exercise routine
Garmin is good with designing tough watches; the Forerunner 25 is another among the illustrious bunch.
From our review the Forerunner will serve you effectively without any hassle; you’ll get a good tracker that monitors your fitness and gives you feedback.
But it won’t provide you with all the metrics you’ll get from its more expensive cousins. The Forerunner 25 has its drawbacks and they’ve been well documented in this review.
Buyer’s guide for women’s fitness watches
Features to look out for:
The basics: A fitness watch should be able to track your daily activity. It should accurately count your steps, track your running, monitor heart rate and your sleep. It should also be able to show you how much calories you burned during the day. These are the basics, a watch without these is pretty much useless.
GPS: Get an activity tracker that has a GPS. With a GPS, it can monitor your outdoor activity; it will even tell your loved ones who install the app exactly where you are and show you how much distance you covered.
Your choice: It all comes down to what you’re looking to track. If you’re a swimmer looking to monitor how well you’re doing on your laps, by all means, you need a waterproof fitness tracker. If you want something that tracks multiple activities like running, hiking, cycling etc. you should get a higher end watch. They cost more though.
The benefits of keeping fit have been well documented. To do it effectively you need a fitness tracker to monitor your progress.
They come with varying designs and functionality. But the list we’ve reviewed here cut across every divide. We left out some popular ones you may know because we didn’t think they’d appeal to women.
Still, there’s an activity tracker for you if you wish to spend top dollar to get unrivaled quality and performance. There’s also a couple of brands which costs less than $50 for people on a budget who still want basic features. Which would you rather go for?
