Have you heard about Cyberpunk 2077? It’s the next title by The Witcher saga developers, CD Projekt Red. The studio has been perfecting the game for over a decade, and we finally have a release date.
And it’s going to be out sooner than expected.
CD Projekt Red launched the trailer back in January 2018 during the E3 convention. Since then, anticipation for the game has only been growing.
If you want to know why the anticipation, take a look of the reveal trailer:
Cyberpunk 2077 release date
The studio kept the mystery and said, over and over, they needed time to make the perfect game they had imagined. It’s “coming when it’s ready,” were their usual choice of words.
Now, gold news is coming from Polish analyst company Vestor Dom Maklerski. Projekt Red may launch Cyberpunk 2077 between September and December 2019.
Although it’s still a long time to wait, it’s indeed good news Cyberpunk 2077 developer is pushing the game until the PlayStation 5 era. It could mean the game will have two versions: one for PS4 and Xbox One, and one for next-gen consoles.
However, the studio has no plans or a pre-release gameplay demo. If you’re wondering how the game truly looks, keep reading.
Enter Cyberpunk 2077
Let’s talk about what the game is about, so maybe you’re as hooked as me.
Cyberpunk 2077 is RPG based on 1988 tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020. It’s an alternative future inspired in steampunk culture where cyborgs and humans are no longer clearly defined.
Players assume the role of V, a customizable mercenary who levels up, master classes, and enhances her body with tech parts.
V has an arsenal of ranged weapons and melee combat options, all of which you can improve. More so, you can apply your experience points to upgrade the three character classes: NetRunner, Solo, and Techie.
The setting is the dystopian Night City, California, an open world with six different regions. As you get to know the city, you will see how technology has influenced culture, society, and economics.
You will be traveling the city by foot or vehicle and following quest you earn from different factions. For each hunt, you will have different ways of addressing it. Keep in mind, though; your choices will ultimately affect the course of the story.
Let’s sum it up: shooter, RPG, steampunk, tough female lead. Well, I don’t want to oversell it, so it’s best if you see CD Projekt Red 48 minute gameplay:
Why is the game not out yet?
If you saw the gameplay, you might be thinking: “That’s awesome…why is it not in my house yet?” Well, CD Projekt Red still needs to clean bugs and glitches, although you could already be playing the campaign from start to finish.
Furthermore, as the game is almost ready by now, developers are thinking of adding new features.
It’s also worth noticing Projekt Red partnered with Canadian studio Digital Scapes for the title. Digital Scapes was founded by developers from BioWare, creators of the Mass Effect series and the DragonAge trilogy. Digital Scapes pride themselves on multiplayer experiences.
It means Cyberpunk 2077 may have some form of a multiplayer feature. At the very least, the alliance will speed up the development time.
