PC build enthusiasts can be happy about the news we’re talking about today. DRAMeXchange, a Trendforce division focusing on market research, announced server DRAM unit prices will decrease by 30 percent by March 2019.
DRAMeXchange predicted sever DRAM prices would fall about 20 percent during the first three months of 2019, but the result will be even more dramatic. Or good, depending on what you need.
DRAM in high supply and low demand
Analysts on TrendFroce believe DRAM are suffering oversupply issues while having lower-than-expected demand. The low demand is affecting the DRAM market suppliers during 2019 and consequences will be even direr between as of March.
Furthermore, the analysts also predict consumer PC market will continue to see DRAM price tags decline a further 20 percent in late 2019.
Oversupply of DRAM modules plus the consequent price drop will continue then on the second half of the year. However, the distance between demand and supply should decrease as manufacturers will reduce production on mid-2019.
All of this means between March and July 2019 is the best time to buy DRAM units. Server DRAM prices
DRAMeXchange also said DRAM price declines may slow down by November 2019 as suppliers will address oversupply issues. However, by the end of the year, we’ll be looking at PC DRAM prices shipping with price tags 50 percent cheaper.
