We might finally have been hinted the release date for ‘The Last Of Us Part II’. The highly anticipated follow up to 2013’s critically acclaimed The Last of Us, could be released in February 2020. We have derived this information from a recent interview given by voice actor Ashley Johnson. Johnson is the voice of the lead character in the game, Ellie. She is set to reprise her role in The Last of Us Part II.
Johnson recently appeared on an episode of Between the Sheets. Although the bulk of the interview involved her discussing her role as Ellie and the evolution of the character, at one point Johnson hinted on the potential release date for the game.
The interviewer asks her “When is it (the game) coming out?”
And it is clear that just as Ashley is about to reply “I think its coming out on February”, the interviewer interrupts her.
Like the first part, The Last of Us Part II is set to be a PlayStation exclusive, with the game coming out on PS4. It will most likely be one of the last high profile games coming out on PS4, before Sony release PS5 later in 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 is another high profile game coming out on PS4 (as well as PC and Xbox One) in 2020 (April).
We have learned that the game was initially scheduled to be released later in the fall of this year. But internal delays have apparently pushed the date to an early 2020 (and possibly February) release.
This timing also makes sense given that the developers, Naughty Dog, have another game Death Stranding scheduled for release in November this year. Here is a tweet by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier explaining the scenario:
Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release. The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4 https://t.co/wh6kimA73b

We could potentially be treated with a second trailer for the game soon. Here’s the first one, in case you’ve missed it:
