How to Open Volume Mixer in Windows 10 and Windows 11

Using Windows Search

This is a rather simple process. To open Volume Mixer in Windows 10 or Windows 11, follow these steps.

  1. Click on the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen.
  2. Type volume into the search bar.
  3. Click on the Sound Mixer option that appears.

  4. Adjust the volume levels for your various audio sources as desired.

Using Run Dialog Box

Alternatively, you can also open Volume Mixer from the run dialog box. To do so, follow these steps.

  1. Press the Win and the R keys simultaneously to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type in sndvol.exe and hit the Enter key.

  3. The Volume Mixer will open.

Using Control Panel

Moreover, you can also access Volume Mixer from the control panel in Windows 11. To do follow these steps.

  1. Search for the control panel on the search bar beside the start menu.
  2. Open control panel.
  3. Go to Hardware and sounds.

From the Taskbar

Perhaps the quickest and simplest way to access the volume mixer is from the taskbar. To do so, follow these steps.

For Windows 11

  1. Click on the sound icon in the taskbar.
  2. Right-click on the sound icon again from the slide-up menu.
  3. Select go to settings.

For Windows 10

  1. Right click on the sound icon from the taskbar
  2. Select Open Volume Mixer.

How to Use Volume Mixer in Windows

As mentioned earlier, you can use Volume Mixer in Windows to adjust the volume for different apps separately while having them run at the same time. To do so, follow these steps.

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Open Volume Mixer.

Uses of Volume Mixer

There are a number of uses for the volume mixer in Windows, including:
